Alterations and remakes
Adjustments to a made-to-measure piece after the final fitting, and remakes where a build genuinely missed.
The difference between an alteration and a remake
An alteration adjusts a finished piece that is broadly right but needs refining — a sleeve taken in, a trouser hemmed differently. A remake means the build did not match what was approved and is rebuilt rather than patched.
Indochino assesses which applies at an in-person appointment rather than deciding from a description alone, since fit issues are usually clearer once the piece is on you.
This page is deliberately separate from the suit and shirt pages because the terms are different: aftercare is not a new made-to-measure order and is priced and scheduled on its own basis, under any fit-guarantee period the company confirms applies to your purchase.
What is included
- Minor fit adjustments after the final fitting are the most common request and are usually quick to schedule.
- A remake — rebuilding a piece rather than adjusting it — is considered when a fit issue cannot be corrected by alteration.
- Staff explain at the appointment which category a given issue falls into before any work is agreed, and any fit-guarantee terms Indochino currently offers are confirmed at that time rather than assumed.
Conditions
- Alterations to change the original specification, rather than to correct fit, are quoted and charged separately.
- A remake is not automatic; it follows an assessment of whether the original build matches the approved specification.
- Bring the piece and your original order details to the appointment so staff can compare against what was approved.
